NIA OLABESI BIO

Hello.  My name is Nia Olabesi, born and raised in Washington, D.C.  I relocated to Austin Texas in 2018 to be closer to my daughter and I love it here!

I happily retired in 2011 with 38 years of federal government service and since then I've returned to my joy of being a painter, actor and entertainer.

I am an accomplished jazz stylist, recording artist and singer-songwriter. I have performed extensively throughout the U.S. for over a decade with my former jazz band, The Nia Olabesi Trio.

I am a self-taught abstract artist. My medium of choice is acrylic mixed media  and collage. I am currently a Resident Artist with Austin ArtSpace Gallery & Studios in Austin.
